What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is an injectable form of synthetic lactic acid (like the lactic acid in your muscles) that fills out wrinkles or areas that have lost volume, like your cheeks, temples or jawline. It induces your own skin to produce natural collagen, while the Sculptra gradually goes away. It restores volume and has the softness and suppleness of younger skin.

Where can it be used?
It is best suited for the face, but can also be used in a dilute form to treat wrinkles and hollow areas on the chest and sometimes on the arms and legs for specific volume deficits in those locations. It is NOT used close to the eye area or on the neck.
How long does it last?
Your natural collagen growth continues after your initial treatments. The Sculptra product itself disappears very gradually by action of your own enzymes. We recommend maintenance treatments once a year after your initial treatments to keep your collagen growing. It is perfectly safe to stop treatments, but your collagen will very gradually diminish again.
Is it safe?
Sculptra has been used outside the U.S. since 1999 in over 150,000 patients. It is approved by the FDA in the U.S. for cosmetic restoration of fat loss. If you look on the web, you will read about Sculptra “bumps.” These are extremely rare in our practice, due to excellent injecting and massage techniques.

How much does it cost?
Sculptra costs $1000 per vial. Usually one to two vials are needed for each treatment. A consultation with Rita Bauer, RN is required before treatment. If you would like to schedule a consultation, please call 206.215.6600.
