Thermage tightens sagging skin by stimulating collagen growth. We communicate honestly and clearly about what Thermage can do, or not do, for you and your skin issues. Thermage can be done at any time of year, even in summer. Eyelid Thermage is a popular treatment for tightening loose skin around the eyes.

Our Thermage Practice

Thermage tightens sagging or lax skin on your face, forehead, jawline, neck and body parts like your hands, upper knees and abdomen. It uses radiofrequency energy through a handpiece to create a uniform heating effect in the deep layer of the skin, tightening existing collagen and stimulating the production of new collagen. This non-invasive therapy is designed to smooth and tighten skin with gradual collagen production over the course of three to six months.

Thermage for Skin Tightening

First, let’s tell you what Thermage will not do. It will not tighten severely sagging skin. It will not treat cellulite on your thighs or buttocks. It will not shrink-wrap a stomach that has significant amounts of fat the way some before-and-after pictures may show. For a woman in her late 60s with lots of sun damage, it is not equivalent to a surgical face lift. Thermage does not produce dramatic results. It acts over time and never produces the stretched and tightened look of a surgical facelift.

For the right patient, Thermage can produce significant skin tightening. It can give a noticeable lift to your forehead and eyes, your jawline, and your cheeks. It can tighten and lift the skin just above your knees that is often sagging from lots of sun exposure. And if the skin on your abdomen is not too lax, it can produce very significant tightening of that area.

Not every clinic, despite what they may promise, can deliver these results. We were one of the first medical practices in Washington to use a Thermage device, starting in 2003 at our Seattle dermatology office, and we have done hundreds of treatments since then. Here are the two keys to our success:

  • We know what Thermage can do, and we recommend it only to those who will benefit from it. We never advertise but work from personal or professional referrals;
  • Our experience with many treatments and being a dermatology practice gives us the best possible knowledge on the energy levels and number of passes to use on different parts of the face or body.
  • We use the new third-generation tips.

We provide Thermage treatments at our beautiful and private Seattle office, with board certified dermatologist Dr. Irwin both on-site four days a week. A full-face Thermage treatment takes approximately 120 minutes (2 hours). No numbing or sedation is required with the new third-generation tips.
