CoolSculpting is a FDA approved, non-surgical, treatment for reducing unwanted fat. It gives permanent results.

How does CoolSculpting work?

Is fat-freezing technology for those stubborn pockets of fat. This cold based technology uses a non-invasive applicator that is applied to a specific area and cools the fat cells to just above freezing causing crystallization. The crystallized cells then break apart and are naturally metabolized by the body very slowly resulting in up to 20%-30% reduction of fat in the treated areas.

What are the CoolSclupting treatments like?

Patients often spend procedure time reading, napping, working on their laptops, or simply relaxing. CoolSculpting is completely non-surgical, so typically you can return to normal activities immediately. Dr. Irwin tested this by going to yoga, running, hiking and swimming in the two days after her treatment, and experienced no discomfort during any of these activities.

How long do CoolSclupting treatments take?

Durations for this procedure range from 1-5 hours depending on how many areas are treated. At your complimentary consultation, which is needed to accurately evaluate the areas wanted to be treated, you will receive an estimate of time and cost. A consultation is needed to accurately estimate time and costs. The range is as low as $600 or as high as $3,000 depending on what the goals are.

Who should not do this treatment?

  • Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not recommended because this was not studied, and why take any chances at all with a pregnancy?
  • CoolSculpting is not intended for patients with very large fatty deposits. For these patients, surgical techniques such as liposuction are more effective. Patients who do well with this procedure typically range from normal weight to about 50 pounds over their target body weight.
  • Patients who have cold related diseases like Raynaud’s (unless it’s very mild), urticaria (hives) brought on by cold or cryoglobulinemia should not do CoolSculpting.
